What airport do we fly into?

 What airport do we fly into?  You fly into Phillip Goldson Airport (BZE) Belize City

How do we get to the island? 

You can take the Belize Express ferry, or you can fly.  Guests are welcome to make their own arrangements, or we can help arrange this for you.  The boat to Caye Caulker will take about an hour and cost approximately $16 US dollars per person, plus $50 cab fare to the terminal.  A flight on Tropic Air or Maya Island air will take about 10 minutes and cost approximately about $80 per person.

Will my phone work? 

That depends on the carrier and each individual plan, but WiFi is readily available and we recommend downloading the WhatsApp application for easy communication here in Belize.  It’s what everyone uses.

Once you arrive.

Once on the island whether by boat or plane, you will be met by our driver who will take you to pick up a few things for your first night on the island.  Happy Destiny also offers a provisioning service that can have items waiting for you at your room and bypass the shopping altogether.  Our Mercado Market and Deli is only 100 yards from the property to make shopping easy. 

Cabanas Concierge

When staying at Happy Destiny Tropical Cabanas, you will be met by our team. They will escort you to the property and will also be your concierge during your stay.

Do I need to exchange money? 

If traveling with US currency, you do NOT need to exchange your US currency into Belize dollars as both currencies are accepted and you will be given change in Belizean dollars.  If using another currency, then you may want to use the exchange services or a local ATM.

What should I pack? 

Pack light and remember you are on an island.  We have frequent and unexpected rain squalls that last only minutes but can occur any time.  Unless you are attending a formal event, shorts, flip flops, sun dresses, t shirts, hats, etc., are perfectly acceptable attire for all occasions.

Do I need to bring sunscreen? 

No. it is available at EVERY store on the island.  Please be mindful of our coral reef and try to focus on a brand that is compatible with sustaining our reef ecosystem.

What kind of shopping is available? 

There are a few tourist shops and many fine artisans selling their products on the street, but you will not find chain stores.  Everything you will need is available at a local market, but if you have distinct food allergies or meal requirements, let us know so we can try and help you plan for those needs.

How do I get signed up for the fun stuff?

  There are many tour operators on the island that offer land and sea activities.  Please let us know if we can help you plan for those prior to your arrival, or we can make some recommendations before you arrive.
